Google rolls out Search Console Insights

New reports provide easier ways for content producers to see how their content is performing.

Google has announced the launch of Search Console Insights, which will provide content producers with an overview of how their content resonates with their audience.

The reports join data from both Search Console and Google Analytics to make it easier to understand content performance, “independent of technical expertise”.

Google has been testing Search Console Insights since last August, with a beta which was by invitation only. It will now be available to all Search Console users.

Google says the report will help you answer the following questions:

  • What is your best performing content, and which pieces of content are trending?
  • How are your new pieces of content performing?
  • How do people discover your content across the web?
  • What do people search for on Google before they visit your content?
  • Which article refers users to your website and content?

There are several ways to access Search Console Insights:

  • Selecting Search Console Insights from the top of Search Console’s Overview page
  • Via a direct link here
  • Google is also working on bringing access also via the iOS and Android Google apps

You can still use Search Console Insights even if you don’t use Google Analytics, but Google recommends linking the two to get the full experience.

Search Console Insights currently only supports Google Analytics Universal Analytics properties (IDs start with UA-), but Google is working to support Google Analytics 4.
